Three years after our father died, the three of us sisters struggled to get by.
The day before debt collectors came knocking, we encountered a weasel spirit seeking a title:
"Tell me, do I look more like a human or a god?"
In our first life, our eldest sister rushed to answer:
"You look like a god!"
But after the weasel spirit successfully ascended to immortality, it reached out and snapped her neck.
In our second life, our eldest sister refused to say a word and made our second sister answer instead.
Our second sister spoke in a trembling voice:
"You look like a human!"
The weasel spirit transformed into a human,
then set the three of us sisters ablaze, burning us to ashes.
When we opened our eyes again, we saw the weasel spirit once more:
"Do I look more like a human or a god?"
Our eldest and second sisters clamped their mouths shut. This time, no matter what, they couldn't say a word.
Who knows what we should say to make the weasel spirit spare us?
