In the autumn of the 3,721st year of the Eternal Night Calendar, a crimson meteor tore across the sky and fell into the Dark Mountains on the southern frontier of the Eastern Wilderness Continent. An eternal heavenly fire blazed across a hundred-mile radius around the impact site. Plants turned to ash, rocks melted, and the flames burned for seven days and nights before finally going out.
When the last spark died, a bottomless pit appeared at the heart of the mountains. At its base, a crystal neither gold nor jade, covered in strange markings, floated quietly. A faint blue-green glow flowed across its surface, as if it were breathing in its sleep.
At the edge of the mountains, three figures stood in midair, their robes fluttering as the power of the laws swirled around them.
“An artifact from beyond the heavens,” said the white-bearded old man in the middle, his eyes gleaming. “The aura it carries bears a striking resemblance to the ‘Spirit Pivot’ described in ancient texts.”
“With the Spirit Pivot’s appearance, heaven and earth are about to change,” said the woman in a green robe on the left, her voice cool and clear. “We simply don’t know whether this will bring fortune or disaster.”
The tower-like man in black armor on the right spoke in a deep voice. “A divine artifact has a spirit and chooses its own master. It’s not something you or I can claim by force.”
The three exchanged glances and attacked at once, three chains of law in different colors winding toward the crystal. But the instant they touched it, the crystal erupted in dazzling blue-green light, and the chains of law snapped apart, link by link.
“Something’s wrong!”
With a thunderous boom, the crystal became a streak of light and vanished into the sky.
