Lan Zhan glanced over and replied calmly, “Wei Ying has an excellent temperament. May I ask what objection you have?”

Wei Wuxian was adopted by the Lan clan as a child, and Lan Zhan raised him until he was fifteen. In those few short years, the Lan clan's rules grew by several hundred clauses!!!
And that was with Lan Zhan keeping him in line. The Lan disciples could only copy the rules through tears of exasperation.
Wei Wuxian chatted away with a grin: “Hey, don't just copy. Talk to me!”
Lan Zhan walked by. “...Wei Ying.”
Wei Wuxian immediately turned on the charm: “Second Brother Lan, I'm copying them right now. I'll be done in a jiffy.”
Little Scene 3
During the Baifeng Mountain hunt, the other sects complained, “The Lan clan has three people on the list of the cultivation world's most outstanding young men! Three! Zewu-Jun, Hanguang-Jun, and Wei Wuxian! Why not just give the Lan clan first place outright!”
The Lan clan disliked arguing, but Wei Wuxian was different. He stepped forward with a smile. “My friend, do you have a question?”
Under the gaze of two Lan clan members, the man felt a weight on his shoulders and stammered, “No... no.”
Little Scene 4
After Wei Wuxian cultivated the demonic path, the immortal sects had no objections to him when they joined forces against the Wen clan. But after the Wen clan fell, they began to grumble.
