In the wasteland, radiation runs rampant, mutated creatures roam, and order in the bases has collapsed. Ye Qiu and her brother, who has an intellectual disability but awakened fire Superpowers at an early age, depend on each other for survival. Their father and stepmother seized the honor apartment for Superpowered users that their mother left behind, forcing the siblings to scrape by in a tin shack. Unable to fight back, her brother has even been reduced to a tool they send out to find supplies.
One night, Ye Qiu had an eerily vivid precognitive dream: Her brother was dragged by force into the highly radioactive West Slope, where radiation ravaged his body, his Superpowers went out of control, and he died a gruesome death. His crystal core was stolen, and she too was doomed to be devoured by a mutant withered vine. After waking, with the warning of death still haunting her, Ye Qiu began stockpiling supplies and preparing to escape with her brother.
During their flight, she accidentally discovered the secret of an old terminal’s “Tomato” app: by posting stories and attracting readers, she could accumulate survival energy to unlock skills. With no Superpowers and a frail constitution, she began writing The Wasteland Survival Guide: My Foolish Brother and I Fight Our Way to the Top, turning her experiences and desperate will to survive into words.
From unlocking basic gathering skills with a single reader to attracting fans with true-to-life stories and unlocking earth Superpowers, water purification, and other skills, she used the abilities gained through her novel to build up resources for survival and overcome crises. She protected her brother, helped him avoid the nightmare, and ultimately freed him from their family’s control, carving out a safe home for them in the wasteland.
