Synopsis
Luo Qingyu lost her mother at a young age. Her stepmother, Madam Su, seems gentle and kind on the surface, but is secretly full of malice. She uses calculated overindulgence to make Qingyu weak and incapable, cutting off any chance for her to grow. Her stepsister, Luo Yanran, is an even more scheming hypocrite, coveting everything Qingyu loves and stopping at nothing to take it all. Fortunately, her maternal grandfather, the Defender General, worries that she will be left alone and helpless. Before leaving for the frontier when she was five, he asks her father for her mother’s generous dowry, entrusts his trusted steward Wu to manage it carefully, and secretly turns to the mysterious and powerful master of the Liufang Pavilion to protect her and provide her with the finest instruction. To avoid drawing her stepmother’s attention and protect herself, Luo Qingyu has kept her talents hidden for years, pretending to be naive and timid while biding her time.
When she comes of age at eighteen, her stepmother Madam Su joins forces with foreign powers to scheme over her marriage, intending to wed her to Xiao Yan, the capital’s most notorious playboy. She even secretly plots to ruin Qingyu’s reputation and push her into the abyss for good. At last, Luo Qingyu stops hiding. Armed with the strategies, medical skills, and political savvy she learned at the Liufang Pavilion, and backed by her substantial dowry, she strikes back with force. Step by step, she exposes her stepmother’s scheme to ruin her through overindulgence, tears away her stepsister’s hypocritical facade, clears her name, and reclaims everything that belongs to her.
Her concealed talents and keen intelligence unexpectedly catch the eye of Mo Linyuan, the Crown Prince. Deep and perceptive, he sees the resilience and talent beneath her disguise. His initial admiration gradually turns into deep affection, and he steps forward to support her as they join forces to break through the schemes against them.
