Chen Yan, who specializes in the history of the late Ming Dynasty, traveled to the troubled times of 1644 and used modern knowledge to gain a foothold in the hungry villages. He set up an ambush to defeat the defeated troops, raised slogans to benefit the people, and formed a "hometown protection meeting". He also expanded the army by ordering a haircut, and the firearms-making team defeated the Qing army for the first time. Later, he rejected the Hongguang regime, pushed for tax cuts to run schools, defended Yangzhou to defeat the Qing army, and welcomed Zhu Yujian's proposal to the council. Lian Zheng successfully defeated Dorgon at the mouth of the Yangtze River and formulated a three-step counterattack plan to recapture Nanjing and Shanhaiguan to kill Dorgon in a decisive battle. In 1655, a treaty was signed to restore the Central Plains. Chen Yan abandoned Wang Jue and promoted the New Deal, but opened a new chapter for the Ming Dynasty with people-oriented thinking.
