During the prosperous period of the Tang Dynasty, four young people with very different personalities in Chang'an City, Wei Wujiu (a smart business man), Shen Yuqing (an official lady), Du Mingxiu (a failed scholar), and Chen Xiaoli (a prodigal son) met by accident and formed a happy and mutually beneficial small group. Faced with the changes in the world, the turmoil of their family and country, intrigues in official circles, and grievances in the world, they either devise strategies to deal with it, or make jokes, experience constant farce, intertwined grievances, and discover themselves and their emotions between glory and suffering. Each of the four volumes has new challenges, a mixture of laughter and tears, and in the end everyone has achieved growth and transformation - either to protect friendship and love, or to break the shackles of life experience, or to stand in the storm of the ancient capital with the power of humor. The book has a tight rhythm, interlocking plots, dense laughter, warmth and humor, and finally ends with the group saying goodbye to Chang'an successfully.
