The story takes place in an imaginary and troubled time, with several countries standing side by side and frequent wars. Zhao Xiaodao was originally a knight-errant, cynical, but because of a mistake, he obtained a rare treasure and was chased by all forces. Along the way, they met military doctor Liu Ying'er, warrior A Niu, intelligence girl Miao Jie, and scribe Lu Beifeng. They formed a team and staged ups and downs of escape and counterattack on the edge of the battlefield. They fought against the treacherous warlord General Han, experienced absurd and grand battles, cunning plots and funny daily life, and uncovered a huge conspiracy. Amidst the ruins of war, they used optimism and wit to compose heroic legends belonging to little people.
