Every sixty years, a space-time rift opens between the real world and the realm of ghost stories. This year, the rift is due to open, and one million national-fortune challengers are randomly selected worldwide. Xia Country has 10,086 participants. The time challengers spend surviving in ghost-story dungeons passes at the same rate as in reality, and each dungeon has a 72-hour time limit. Those who clear a dungeon raise their country’s fortune value; failure causes the loss of national fortune and unleashes corresponding ghost-story contamination into the real world.
The protagonist, Lin Yu, is bound to the “Mysterious Warning System,” which lets him see red warning text hidden within the rules. The System provides three “national-fortune survival kits” each day, which can be exchanged for crucial items or hints.
