Tomb Raiding: The Holy Son Sacrifices the Entire Team

“I was born for one reason: to have my heart cut out.”

My name is Shen Yi, the last holy son of the Shen family.

White hair, amber eyes, and a scar on my chest that grows hot.

Ever since I was old enough to understand, I’ve known

I’m not human. I’m a “vessel.”

A sacrifice the Shen family has kept for three hundred years, meant to feed the thing behind the Bronze Gate.

When I turned twenty, I planted the most vicious curse-worm inside myself, hoping to die cleanly on the night of the full moon.

Instead, I met Zhang Qiling.

The last gatekeeper of the Zhang family, with black eyes like a frozen pool untouched for a thousand years.

He cut open his own chest and fed me his scorching blood.

“Shen Yi, I want you to live.”

But living is harder than dying.

The living corpse beneath the Qinling Sacred Tree told me, “You are the key.”

The ice corpse in the Heavenly Palace above the Clouds knelt before me. “You are my king.”

From deep within the Snake Marsh, a pair of eyes whispered in my mind, “Come… become a god.”

I began to dream.

I dreamed of the enormous bronze gate on the snowy mountain, and the dark red eye peering through its crack.

I dreamed of Zhang Qiling walking inside and never coming back.

And in the dream, another me split open a third eye in my chest and smiled at him.

“Zhang Qiling, look… I’ve become the ‘thing’ you’re supposed to guard.”

[A choice lies before me]

I can remain human, watch Zhang Qiling walk through the Bronze Gate, and spend the rest of my life guarding his tomb.

Or I can become a god, tear open this flesh, release everything behind the gate, and set him free.

I chose a third path

I would refine myself into the most deadly curse-worm and plant myself deep inside the Bronze Gate.

I would wait ten years, a hundred, a thousand.

Until that divine heart began to beat like a human one.
