Lin Wei, a history PhD, transmigrates into the Northern Qi Eastern Palace as a low-ranking female records officer.
She witnesses firsthand how Gao Yin, the “deposed emperor” of the history books, a boy remembered only as “kind and weak,” clings to his ideal of “governing the realm with benevolence” amid the cruelty of his father and brothers.
Knowing he is destined to be deposed and killed, she still chooses to stand by his side.
She uses modern psychology to help heal his trauma, historical strategy to plan for him, and all her courage to fight against a fate that seems inevitable.
“Your Highness, if the history books are determined to call you a failure, then at least let your failure... keep its dignity.”
As the blades of the Qianming coup close in and even those closest to him bare their fangs, can she preserve one last glimmer of light for him amid the torrent of history?
If you’re tired of invincible power fantasies, give this story a try: it’s about two ordinary people who fail, gently but steadfastly, in the torrent of history.
[Not a power fantasy · No invincible hero · Leans toward historical fiction]
[A true historical tragedy, and a gentle yet cruel tale of redemption]
It's good to read, but it's a bit sad to read the whole story. It's a historical tragedy and an unchangeable fate. The young emperor's miserable life ended up at the age of 17. In the book, he met the heroine in his last few years, and she had someone to comfort and talk to. But I wonder if the young man in history had someone to accompany and enlighten him like the heroine in the last few years of his life, so that he would not be so lonely in this life, and make his life less lonely and desolate.
I really like the heroine design, this is what a doctor of history in Kochi looks like 😳 If Gao Yinfan is more cruel, the history of the Northern Qi Dynasty can be rewritten!! "After reading this, I frantically searched for Gao Yin historical materials. I am really more regretful than my first love. I would like to thank the author for letting me stay up all night because of a story from 1,400 years ago. 😢
