Tales of a Thousand Nights: A Thousand Ghost Stories

Deep in the old district lies the Strange Tales Study, home to the Thousand-Night Record, a book sealed for a thousand years. After inheriting the bookstore, history graduate Su Yan accidentally awakens the power of the ancient text and becomes its successor, charged with the mission of a Record Keeper. He must complete a thousand stories of vengeful spirits, resolve their obsessions, and stop them from becoming tools for Spirit Hunters to plunder power.

The ghostly aura spreading across his fingertips is a mark of fate, while the secrets sealed in the attic are warnings left by his grandmother. Together with his childhood friend Lin Wanqiu and Zhao Xiaoyi, a spirit-artist, Su Yan enters one eerie illusion after another, each woven from obsession: an embroiderer in an old mansion uses threads to stitch an unfinished wedding dress; a famous performer in a theater sings of love, hate, passion, and delusion amid shifting light and shadow; an heir to the Mohist tradition builds a maze from ink that devours the human heart... Every story is a chance for redemption, and every mystery solved brings them closer to the truth behind the origins of the Thousand-Night Record.

But Spirit Hunters led by Gu Chenzhou close in at every turn. They devour vengeful spirits and control puppets, seeking to use dark magic to dominate the spirit realm. When Su Yan glimpses the secrets of the ancient text in the Netherworld Ink of Mo Yuan, and touches the rift in time and space within Yue Ji's Moonshadow Barrier, he gradually understands: obsession does not end in destruction, and the meaning of protection goes beyond redemption.

The gears of a thousand-year-old feud slowly turn, and the final showdown between Record Keepers and Spirit Hunters is about to begin. Holding the restored Thousand-Night Record, Su Yan faces not only powerful vengeful spirits and enemies, but also a choice about his own fate: will he become the guardian of the ancient text, or the one who breaks the cycle and rewrites it?
