In the early years of the Republic of China, warlords fought in a melee, and Marshal Lu Tingyuan was ordered to guard the border. He met Su Qingyi, a female student who came to find her father. Qingyi's innocence and feelings about her family and country moved Tingyuan. The two met and fell in love during the war, but were obstructed by hostile warlords and foreign forces. Tingyuan fought bloody battles to protect Qingyi and his country, and finally protected his love and homeland in troubled times.
