During the Qianlong period, Cui Shitou, a farmer from Shanxi, became a refugee due to a disaster. He followed his parents' wishes and went to Xinle, Hebei to reclaim wasteland. With his tenacity and farming wisdom, he conquered barren fields, resolved water crisis and interpersonal disputes, took the lead in establishing a mutual aid group, and led his neighbors to overcome the difficulties together. He eventually turned barren slopes into granaries, took root in new soil, and became a respected "reclamation model."
