Tyrannical emperor seme × blind opera performer uke × xuanhuan martial world × ancient court intrigue × pure love at its finest × uke's perspective × tragic or happy ending

Xiao Chen was a tyrant who had suffered from insomnia for three years. Yan Tingyun was an opera performer who could not see.

One performance made the tyrant fall asleep for the first time in three years. One sentence turned the performer into a caged bird in the imperial palace.

He took what he wanted by force: “Your voice is my medicine.”

The other answered gently: “Your Majesty's heart ailment is beyond the reach of any medicine.”

Until one day, the performer coughed up blood, and the imperial physician said with a trembling voice, “The Heartburning Poison. He won't live three years.”

Xiao Chen gripped his chin. “Who did this?”

Yan Tingyun laughed softly in the darkness. “I poisoned myself, Your Majesty. How much longer do you want to watch this play?”

[His coercive possession begins, and their mutual salvation brings it to an end. He thought he'd locked up a phoenix, but in the end, it was his own heart he had trapped.]
