1. Time background
From the spring of 1938 to the winter of 1940, the focus is on the period before and after the Battle of Wuhan (June-October 1938), extending to the strategic buffer period before the Wannan Incident. At this time, the Anti-Japanese War entered a stalemate stage. The Japanese army approached Wuhan and the Nationalist Government moved westward to Chongqing. Wuhan became the "Far East Spy Center" where all forces competed.
2. Spatial pattern
The core stage: Three towns in Wuhan (Hankou, Wuchang, Hanyang): Concession area (British, French and Japanese concessions coexist, becoming an intelligence black market and neutral zone), Jianghan Road Commercial Port (densely populated with antique shops, foreign companies, and teahouses, and a meeting point for lurkers), Jiangbian Wharf (a hub for material transfer and personnel smuggling), the Japanese Central China Dispatch Force Headquarters (core target of intelligence), the Wuhan Station of the Nationalist Government's military reunification, and the Wuhan Working Committee of the underground party of the Communist Party of China.
Extended scenarios: Chongqing (center of the National Government, high-level game), Shanghai (preparatory stronghold of Wang Puppet regime, intelligence transfer station), mountainous area of western Hubei (base of CCP guerrillas), Hong Kong (international intelligence exchange station).
