During the Chunxi period of the Southern Song Dynasty, Yangzhou was devastated after being looted by the Jin soldiers. The poet {Jiang Kui} passed by here and saw the ruins of the city and the displacement of the people. He felt sad and wrote "Yangzhou Slow·Huaizuo Famous Capital". The lyrics spread throughout the south of the Yangtze River, expressing the pain of the troubled times. However, they angered peace-prone officials and were accused of "shaking people's hearts." Jiang Kui was forced to wander. On the way, he met literati and anti-Jin people, and together they discussed state affairs, expressed his worries with poems, and composed tragic music with music. Although he never entered an official career or went to the battlefield in person, his writing and music survived the flames of war and became the spiritual comfort of countless people in the troubled times of the Southern Song Dynasty, and eventually became a cultural symbol that has been passed down through the ages.
