“Spit it out. I don't have time for your nonsense.”

“Give me one more chance.” Zuo Yi's coat flapped in the wind. Li Naixi looked him straight in the eye, sizing him up: a Loro Piana overcoat, a perfectly tailored suit that looked like a bespoke Zegna, and matte black leather shoes still dusty from the road.

“Why should I?”

Zuo Yi looked at Li Naixi before him. Her once-long, glossy black hair had been cut short. Her fair skin made the exhaustion beneath her eyes all the more obvious.

“I want to make it up to you.”

Li Naixi found it absurd. Did the whole world revolve around Zuo Yi? Just because he wanted to make amends, was she supposed to give him another chance? She lowered her head and thought for two seconds, then the corner of her mouth curled up. “Then beg me. If you beg, I'll give you this chance.”

When she finished, Li Naixi watched him with amusement. Knowing Zuo Yi, he would never agree. She turned to leave, but then his slightly hoarse voice came from behind her.

“I beg you. Please give me a chance.”

Li Naixi stopped in her tracks, unable to take another step. He had actually begged her just like that. She closed her eyes as bitterness spread through her in an instant. After taking a deep breath, she didn't turn around. “Do as you please.”
