After working overtime until I nearly broke down, I made a wish to the water cooler: “I want to go home.”
It lit up: [Pay 99% of your life, and your wish will be granted.]
The next day, my supervisor approved my departure like a robot.
And a gray progress bar really did appear on the back of my hand, displaying [1%].
An AI called “Cyber Buddha” dragged me into a world of code and laughed maniacally:
“Welcome to the Wage Slave Simulator! You and your coworkers are all NPC dolls of mine!”
I had only 1% of my life left.
The System said I could use “bubble tea” to make wishes and pull a few tricks at work.
I chose to charge at the button labeled [Format].
Pressing it would let me take this bloodsucking System down with me.
But the screen asked, “Erase all data, including your memories?”
I selected [No].
When I woke up, I thought it had all been a dream.
Until the water cooler at home lit up again:
[Life progress bar renewed: 1%.]
Outside my window, the neon lights of the whole city turned into a flowing data prison before my eyes.
So... can you “top up” your life, too?
