"Chang'an Demon Story" is a fantasy novel set in Chang'an in the mid-Tang Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty in the third year of the Tang Dynasty. It focuses on the demon-slaying journey of Shi Shen Yan, the secretary of the Secret Pavilion. Shen Yan possesses the magical power of green eyes that can identify monsters. He was accidentally involved in the murder case of the Painted Skin Ghost in Qujiang Pool, and has since embarked on the road of confronting Chang'an monsters.
From the chaos of Guanmu Mei in Xuandu, the trouble caused by thousand-year-old clams in Qujiang Pond, to the tide of corpses caused by corpse refiners in the mass graves in the west of the city, Shen Yan gradually discovered that these seemingly isolated monsters were closely related to the revival of the cult "Xuanyin Sect" in the late Sui Dynasty. As the investigation deepens, he gets acquainted with allies such as Li Qingxuan, a Taoist priest of Xuandu Temple, and Xuan Jizi, a master of Zhongnan Mountain. Together, they uncover the shocking conspiracy of Xuanyin leader Yang Xuan to use the essence and blood of dragon veins to revive his soul on the night of the blood moon.
The story begins with "Changan's Earth Qi Changes" As a dark thread, classic elements such as painted skins, wooden charms, water monsters, and walking corpses are connected in series. In the strong contrast between the prosperous capital and the gloomy demonic realm, Shen Yan uses a mortal body with supernatural powers, and uses magic weapons such as peach wood swords and Yangyan talismans to fight against millennium evil spirits and protect the people of Chang'an. The final showdown leads to the ultimate showdown at the Yinquan of Zhongnan Mountain, revealing the deeper secret behind Yang Xuan's remnant soul.
