Surviving the Apocalypse, Lost in a Sea of Emotions

This apocalypse was not caused by a conventional virus. It began with a global “psychic radiation storm.” After the storm, some humans mutated into monsters that crave vivid emotions: “Heart-Eaters.” They can sense and track intense emotions, especially fear, like sharks following the scent of blood. Lin Mo wakes up during the storm to discover that he has become a rare “Emotional Abyssal.” He can absorb the negative emotions of those around him, such as fear and despair, as easily as breathing, converting them into pure psychic energy to strengthen himself or temporarily create a “mental barrier.” But absorbing too much can immerse him in other people's painful memories, putting him at risk of losing himself. In this apocalypse, keeping your emotions “under the radar” is an ironclad rule. Apathy is a protective charm, hope is a luxury, and any intense emotional fluctuation is a deadly beacon.
