Pokemon: You Asked Me to Do Research, So Why Am I Going for the Championship?

[System + urban Pokemon + imaginative training + lighthearted daily life + no heroine]

After transmigrating to a world where cities and Pokemon coexist, Su Bai awakens a god-tier training System. He plans to quietly become a leading scholar and achieve financial freedom by publishing papers. Who could have guessed his Pokemon would all turn out completely different from the norm?

A disabled Froakie he picked up for a bargain is put through physics-based training and becomes a martial arts demon capable of Flash Step and the Eight Gates. It kicks apart a Legendary Pokemon's barrier! A gluttonous Gastly has a sealed pocket dimension inside it. Su Bai raises it into a mobile arsenal that greets opponents with a Tailed Beast Bomb! Even the weakest Pokemon, Caterpie, gets developed into a Rayquaza form!

...At the global tournament, Su Bai sweeps through the Elite Four of country after country with his team of monsters, and the reporters lose it. Reporter: "Dr. Su, didn't you say you were just a researcher who couldn't hurt a fly?" Su Bai pushes up his glasses and shrugs helplessly. "I am. I just come up with the theories. Something as crude as fighting is, of course, the Pokemon's job."

Watching his Pokemon beat up a Legendary Pokemon right behind him, the whole world falls silent. (This book is all about wild ideas, science explained through fun, and underhanded tactics. The blurb doesn't do it justice, so give the story a try!)
