A gentle, warm high school teacher whose words sound like those of a domineering CEO vs. a cool-looking, kind-hearted CEO
Ye Shulan, a math teacher at Linchuan No. 1 High School, becomes famous around campus for her domineering CEO-style sayings: "Grades won't pretend for you" and "Everyone is equal before the rules." After two years of teaching, her rigorous approach has earned her the respect of students and parents alike. She and the "aloof" CEO Fu Guidu are brought together through his younger brother, Fu Xingyu, one of her students. She's a career-focused teacher who's hard to pin down, while he's a considerate CEO willing to adjust his schedule for her. As they work together on school and family matters, their contrasting personalities spark a growing romance.
Fu Guidu wants to take Ye Shulan out to dinner on the weekend. When he asks over the phone, "Are you free Saturday night?" she apologetically replies, "I have monthly exam papers to grade that night, so I might not have time."
Fu Guidu asks about Sunday instead. She answers, "I have to prepare lessons Sunday morning, and I have a home visit in the afternoon." After striking out twice, Fu Guidu feels disappointed, but understanding the demands of her job, he says, "It's okay. Let me know when you're free."
Their dates have to be squeezed into whatever gaps they can find: breakfast together before morning study, a twenty-minute stroll around campus after evening study, or a "convenient" half-hour meetup while Fu Xingyu has weekend tutoring. When Fu Guidu asks her to see a movie, Ye Shulan can only choose a midnight showing, and halfway through, she even gets an urgent call from a student's parent.
