"Death Amusement City" tells the story of Xu Jia, a down-and-out internet writer who suffers from gastric cancer and only has 30 days left to live. He receives a mysterious invitation and enters the "Death Amusement City" that uses "Ren" coins as its currency. Here, participants earn "ren" coins by challenging fatal games corresponding to the twenty-four solar terms, which can be exchanged for life span. Xu Jia relies on his wisdom and remaining kindness to survive in dangerous situations such as "give and take" and "the chess game of life and death", and gets acquainted with the mysterious girl Han Kui. However, the rules behind the amusement city are strict, the "dealers" have their own agendas, and hunters in black are secretly waiting around. At the same time, in the real world, Xu Jia wrote a novel about his dream experience to raise medical expenses, and he and Han Kui searched for each other in reality. The work is intertwined with two lines, deeply exploring human nature, trust and redemption in a suspenseful adventure, revealing that "sometimes, living towards death is the only way to survive."
