A Hundred Faces of the Workplace: Unusual Records

After graduating from college, Lu Hao drifted from place to place, hoping to make his dream of working for a provincial government agency come true. He worked as a trainee lawyer and a recruitment reporter while waiting for the provincial civil service exam, but his dream was shattered because he was registered as a resident of another province. With no other choice, he returned to his home county, passed an exam, and became an employee at the Cultural Relics Institute. From then on, Lu Hao felt as if he were inside a bizarre kaleidoscope. He saw his colleague Zhang Hechang, who had long seen through the workplace and stepped away while the going was good; the director, Lin Lianhai, who seemed relatively untroubled but still felt dissatisfied; and all the conflicts and scandals in the cultural System around him. At work, he also met freelancers with exceptional talents, encountered local cultural celebrities who knew little of the world beyond their own circles, and crossed paths with arrogant cultural relics experts, profit-driven businessmen, and foreign scholars of cultural exchange who looked down on everyone. He also had varying degrees of contact with workplace figures such as a police officer with exceptional skills and a history teacher. Countless strange tales and both normal and abnormal occurrences were etched deeply into Lu Hao's mind. Through the fantastical refractions of this many-sided prism, Lu Hao also took an outsider's view of the many kinds of workplace elites, painting vivid, penetrating portraits of them. Some were warm and genuine, their insides matching their outsides. Some were honey-tongued but treacherous, righteous in appearance but rotten within. Some acted one way to people's faces and stabbed them in the back. Some were smooth talkers who abandoned their allies once they had served their purpose. And some wore their pride like armor, while concealing their hypocrisy beneath it... As Lu Hao struggled to make his way through a world of intrigue and ambition, he stumbled forward, only to suddenly realize that every step he took had merely circled around the starting point, leaving a faint trail behind. He could not foresee whether the road ahead would bring fortune or misfortune, much less see where it would lead.
