Synopsis

(This is not a strictly faithful account of official history. Some events have been dramatized for the sake of an exciting story. I only hope you enjoy the read.)

In the twenty-fifth year of Hongwu, Crown Prince Zhu Biao dies. The Great Ancestor, Zhu Yuanzhang, is overcome with grief, but overrules everyone’s objections and names Crown Prince’s eldest grandson Zhu Yunwen as his heir.

But just then, a divine list descends from the heavens, revealing the two possible paths for the future of the Ming Dynasty.

[The Jianwen Path]: Zhu Yunwen takes the throne and rushes to curb the power of the vassal princes, provoking Prince of Yan Zhu Di into rebellion. The Jingnan Campaign erupts, plunging the Ming into four years of civil war and rivers of blood. Zhu Di eventually captures Nanjing, the Jianwen Emperor disappears, and countless loyal ministers are massacred.

[The Yongle Path]: Zhu Yuanzhang heeds the divine list and names Prince of Yan Zhu Di as Crown Prince. Zhu Di succeeds to the throne without a hitch and ushers in the Yongle Golden Age! He compiles the Great Canon, opens the Grand Canal, leads five campaigns north of the desert, sends seven expeditions across the western seas, moves the capital to Beijing, and welcomes envoys from every land!

Watching the indecisive Crown Prince’s eldest grandson in the Jianwen Path destroy his own foundations, and seeing the Ming plunged into war as a result, Zhu Yuanzhang trembles with rage. Pointing at Zhu Yunwen, he roars, “My realm nearly fell into the hands of a brat like you!”

Zhu Di sees his own boundless ambition and unparalleled achievements in the [Yongle Path], then looks at the tragic fate awaiting him in the [Jianwen Path]: his family destroyed and himself driven to rebellion. He clenches his fists, fire blazing in his eyes.

Lan Yu, Fu Youde, and the other meritorious generals see that in the Jianwen Path they are purged, but in the Yongle Path they can continue fighting for their country, bring honor to their families, and pass their rank to their descendants. They all kneel before Zhu Yuanzhang and beg him to name Prince of Yan as heir!

Looking for Novels That Review Zhu Di's Achievements and Always Have Him Ascend the Throne

It has to be a historical retrospective. And don't recommend me novels where Zhu Biao's death is the only reason Zhu Di takes the throne, only for Zhu Biao to inherit it in the end. Lately, it's always Zhu Biao who succeeds to the throne. How can Zhu Di's achievements as the Yongle Emperor possibly be outdone by Zhu Biao's?

Looking for Sky Screen Stories About the Yongle Emperor! Who Doesn’t Love the Yongle Emperor?

Looking for books similar to Recap: Li Shimin, Governor of Asia, Shocks All the Dynasties. I don't want stories that just mention something and move on. Why is there so much slander against the Yongle Emperor? What did he ever do to you? Recaps with a sky screen are fine too! I want stories that praise people. Su Shi would be great too. I just finished reading one recently.
