Luo Zijun: I’m Building My Career Before the Divorce

When Luo Zijun woke up shivering in her rental apartment after her divorce, she opened her eyes to find herself back in 2016, three months before Chen Junsheng’s affair. She was still the “Mrs. Chen” everyone envied.

In her previous life, she clung to marriage as if it were a lifeline, only to be cheated on and left with nothing. She nearly lost custody of her son, too. This time, she’s making “building a career” her top priority. First, she digs out her long-neglected accounting certificate and knocks on the door of an accounting firm. Then, despite Chen Junsheng’s contempt, she lands a sales job at a luxury boutique. She even gets a head start on Ling Ling by uncovering financial loopholes at Chen Junsheng’s company.

She’s no longer a parasitic vine relying on marriage. She turns down He Han’s “rescue” and helps Tang Jing establish herself at work. She helps her younger sister Ziqun open a wonton shop and makes sure their mother, Xue Zhenzhu, has money set aside for retirement. She even deposits Ping’er’s education fund into her own account ahead of time.

When Chen Junsheng shows up with the divorce papers, Luo Zijun is signing an employment contract with her new company. Smiling, she pushes the papers back. “We can get divorced, but the division of assets will be on my terms. After all, my hourly rate is higher than what you make working overtime.”

This time, she doesn’t want to “grow during the second half of her life.” She intends to become her own support before the divorce.
