Alone in the Abyss

Xia Nanxun has a disease, the incurable kind.

He doesn’t want to burden anyone, so he leaves the orphanage alone.

There are many children in the orphanage, and most of them are in poor health.

Xia Nanxun is nearly an adult and can look after himself, so he tells the director he wants to go out and make his way in the world.

And so, frail and sick, he heads north alone to seek his fortune.

In a place like Beijing, where every inch of land is worth a fortune, he never expected anyone to take pity on him and give him one last bit of warmth.

Even if that person would later abandon him too,

leaving him to fall once more into an endless abyss.

Xia Nanxun thinks this is how his life will be. Even getting into a prestigious university can’t hide how shabby he is.

So even the person who has always followed him around saying “I love you” abandons him again.

But just a few months later, that person returns from abroad, exhausted, and holds him close, apologizing over and over.

Only then does Xia Nanxun learn what Shen Beiyou has been through, and just how much he loves him.
