The Day I Was Discharged, I Set Out to Slay the Gods!

[Lovecraftian] + [Sequence] + [Wasteland] + [Mental Illness] They say I’ve been sick for ten years, and that I’m seriously ill. My medical records are full of delusions: I wore a hospital gown and called myself the Flame Spirit Armor; I called my rickety bicycle a Chariot of Blazing Flames; I carried a rolling pin and claimed it was the Sea-Stabilizing Needle; and I insisted my squirt gun was a Superpowered Electromagnetic Cannon. The most serious diagnosis was that I was always imagining ways to kill gods. Then one day, Cthulhu descended. The shadows of the Great Old Ones swallowed the world, and humanity plunged into madness and despair. I walked out of the psychiatric hospital wearing my Number One hospital gown and climbed onto my rickety bicycle. At last, they believed I wasn’t sick. Because they realized my “delusions” were all real. When sane, I am a learned scholar, a far-seeing strategist, and a fool in matters of the heart; When mad, I am a walking calamity, a trampler of rules and factions, a lunatic who judges the gods in a mortal’s body; “Hello. Would you like to make an appointment?” “Our hospital now offers a new service: treatment for… the Great Old Ones, and madmen who aspire to godhood.” “I walk the line between reason and madness, holding the ‘Guixu,’ which can annihilate all things, in my left hand, and the ‘Tenderness’ that longs for an ordinary life in my right.” This is the worst of times, with gods corrupting the world and civilization collapsing. It is also the best of times, because I’ve been discharged. And my discharge papers need to be signed and stamped with the blood of the Great Old Ones. “Let’s go! We’re killing gods!” …Divider… “Su Qing, if I’m destined to go mad, use your formulas to remember who I was at the beginning.”
