(No System, not reborn, one female lead, an authentic high school experience, ensemble cast)
The night before we were assigned to new classes, my roommate woke me by pressing his stinky socks over my face. I thought the rest of high school would be one chaotic day after another of brothers messing with each other, until she and I became desk mates.
She would slip cat-printed tissues into my pocket when I wasn’t looking, use my meal card to buy peach yogurt as “interest,” and even doodle basketball jokes only I understood in the notes she borrowed from me.
I thought it was just the kind of desk-mate understanding you found in the liberal arts class. Then a jock from Class 13 made a lewd joke about her, and I clenched my fists and stepped in front of her. That was when I realized my heart was pounding louder than the sound of rebounds during a basketball game.
Of course, youth can’t be all sweetness.
Late-night dorm talks were full of hidden feelings. Ming Moukai’s sneakers always cost three times as much as mine, Lin Hui’s sour, musty smell could drive the whole classroom crazy, and even eating a pack of spicy strips could trigger a “biohazard” during evening study hall.
But when I put an aroma diffuser in Lin Yu’s hands, when Cai Yonghang brought his buddies from Class 14 to back me up, and when we wrote our names in our exam notes, I suddenly understood:
Those rowdy mornings held brothers who would be there for a lifetime. Those secretly reddening ears betrayed feelings we never said aloud.
This is Yunze High School, but it holds the wildest, sweetest, most unforgettable years of our youth.
Very realistic and beautiful
A very realistic campus article, I think it's good
