Ye Chuqi is the class 2, grade 8, student everyone knows as a “scatterbrained underachiever.” She slacks off in class and copies her homework, and her greatest wish is to pass math. Her biggest “accident” is bumping into transfer student Huang Liang at a library corner. Not only does she spill warm water all over him, she also exposes her notebook full of doodles and wrong answers.
Who could have guessed that the cool, taciturn transfer student, with his top-student aura, would end up in her class? Even more bewildering, Huang Liang doesn't hold her embarrassing full-on collision against her. Instead, he picks up her notebook, launching his “underachiever makeover plan”:
There's the neatly written explanations for her mistakes that he slips into her desk during class breaks, complete with cute auxiliary lines; the patient way he explains things in the library, turning complicated formulas into something “sweet as oranges”; the kindness of taking her punishment at the sports meet; and the closeness of sharing an umbrella on a rainy day...
The underachiever girl's notebook gradually fills with equations of a fluttering heart, while a clumsy, adorable ray of sunshine finds her way into the cool top student's world. It turns out the sweetest meeting in youth is when I stumble into your arms and you happen to catch all my clumsiness and unease.
This is a story of mutual devotion between a top student and an underachiever.
