The Path to Immortality: A Mortal Heart

For generations, Yang Shi’er’s family lived in a primitive village, undisturbed by the outside world. Then, one day, a group of Japanese invaders arrived. They slaughtered the villagers without restraint and violated the women, sparing not even the little girls... Yang Shi’er was the only one in the whole village to survive. He swore to avenge his family, so he enlisted in the Great Xia army. He grew up on the battlefield and became an outstanding soldier. Great Xia was under invasion by several nations, and the land was devastated. Those behind it all were cultivators, secretly manipulating multiple countries. Their goal was to make ordinary forces seize mineral deposits and plunder spirit stones for their cultivation. Yang Shi’er lost an arm in battle and was left disabled, forcing him to retire. After repeatedly distinguishing himself in battle, he was rewarded with a medicinal pill, the Marrow-Cleansing Pill, and became a martial artist. After his injury, he was introduced to a minor martial arts sect and became a lowly servant, but unexpectedly acquired a cultivation manual. The sect he joined was soon taken over by reclusive cultivators, who forced him to seize other people’s mines. One of those mines held the spirit stones cultivators dreamed of obtaining. Yang Shi’er unexpectedly acquired spirit stones, and with the energy they contained, became a cultivator. He quickly advanced from the early stage of Qi Refining to its peak, becoming a great master. Only then did he see the evil in this world, especially among cultivators, who disregarded life and trampled ordinary people like ants. Though Yang Shi’er had become a cultivator, he still held on to his mortal heart. For the sake of ordinary people, he joined forces with others who shared his ideals and dared to wage an earth-shaking battle against the cultivators hidden behind the scenes...
