In 1950, I Used KPIs to Outdo the Entire Country

Workaholic programmer Lu Xiaofei is reborn in 1953 as a newly hired street punk at the Hongxing Steel Mill.

Faced with a stodgy father, passionate friends, and a canteen serving nothing but watery gruel, Lu Xiaofei feels like life has switched to hard mode.

Then, at the new hires’ meeting, he gives an onboarding presentation using SWOT analysis…

The whole factory is in an uproar! The veteran workers curse him for making a pointless fuss, while the workshop director thinks he’s got a screw loose.

Lu Xiaofei immediately introduces “5S management” and “KPI evaluations” on the workshop floor, persuading the veteran workers to become “workshop grindlords” one after another. Productivity skyrockets overnight!

And so he launches into an unconventional comeback on this land ablaze with passion.

While everyone else is focused on steel production, he sets up a “secret farm” on factory grounds with his coworkers, raising pigs and growing vegetables to improve their meals. Then someone reports them for “undermining socialism.” Don’t panic: he turns it around and becomes an outstanding example of “the working class relying on its own efforts”!

While others scratch their heads at technical problem-solving meetings, he draws on the principles of the “air fryer” to propose a hot-air circulation system for producing specialty steel, leaving the Soviet-trained experts stunned!

As the tide of the times rolls in, how will he use his wit and humor to protect everything he loves and ultimately become a trailblazer of Reform and Opening-Up?

This is a hilarious yet passionate tale of a modern man gently stirring up an entire era with “internet jargon” and project management know-how.
