San Bing works odd jobs at the Nameless Restaurant. By chance, he swallows a mysterious spice called the “Tear of Taotie.” From then on, he can see monsters disguised as human diners, and he is cursed with a condition: “You must collect 100 satisfied smiles to stay alive.” Forced to set out on a journey, he uses his cooking to solve the troubles of all kinds of monsters, from a heartbroken nine-tailed fox and a Dragon King with anorexia to a homesick ghost. In the end, he uncovers the mystery of his origins and uses food to prevent a war between the spirit realm and the human world.
