Execution of the Zhizhi: In 36 BC, Chen Tang falsely conveyed the imperial edict and united with Gan Yanshou, the governor of the Western Regions. He led a multinational coalition to attack Kangju and killed the Zhizhi Chanyu. The Xiongnu split into northern and southern parts, and the southern Xiongnu surrendered to the Han Dynasty.
