A folklore graduate student is trapped in an "urban ghost story version" of "Groundhog Day" and is hunted to death by different classic ghost stories every day in various ways. He must find patterns from countless deaths and uncover the horrific truth that the city has become a "ghost story petri dish", and discovers that he is actually a pawn in a grand survival plan.
