In the French Concession in Shanghai in 1927, Su Manqing, a female detective who returned from studying abroad, was excluded from the patrol room because of her gender. However, with her keen insight, she took on the "Ancient Mirror Curse Murder Case" that no one dared to touch. Antique dealer Zhao Heting died mysteriously in a secret room with a bronze mirror fragment inserted in his chest. Only half a rouge-stained fingerprint and the last words "There is someone in the mirror" were left at the scene. Su Manqing partnered with conservative patrolman Zhang Tiezhu, and in the concession where Chinese and foreign forces intertwined, they started multiple rounds of psychological and intellectual games with the hidden real murderer.
