In the fourteenth year of the Republic of China, war broke out across Sichuan and Chongqing, and various warlords competed in the southwest. Lin Xiaochuan, who was born in the Pao Ge family, relied on his courage and extraordinary strategy to rise rapidly from a battalion commander to a warlord who ruled eastern Sichuan. On the one hand, he has to deal with the annexation and suppression of the old warlords in western Sichuan, on the other hand, he has to resist the infiltration of northern forces, and he also has to face the loyalty and betrayal of his brothers Pao Ge.
In the torrent of troubled times, Lin Xiaochuan met Su Manqing, a progressive female student who had returned from studying abroad. With the spark of new ideas, she tried to find light in the darkness; she also formed an indissoluble bond with Hong Ling, the female bandit leader who entrenched the Chuanjiang River. She was bold and fierce, but had an unknown past. The righteousness of family and country intertwined with the love of his children, power disputes collided with the morality of the world, and Lin Xiaochuan adhered to his original intention of "protecting the people of Sichuan and protecting the soil of Sichuan" in making choices again and again. However, as the pace of unification of the National Government accelerated and the Japanese invaders were eyeing the enemy, the peace in Sichuan was completely broken. Lin Xiaochuan had to put aside his internal disputes and lead the Sichuan army on the anti-Japanese battlefield, writing the legend of the Sichuan army with blood and loyalty.
