Iron-Blooded Bright Sword: Flames Across the Taihang Mountains

Lin Jun, an elite battalion commander in a modern special operations brigade, is caught in an accident during an international counterterrorism mission and transmigrates to the Cangyun Ridge battlefield in 1940, in the world of Bright Sword. He becomes an ordinary soldier in the Eighth Route Army’s New First Regiment. At this crucial moment, Li Yunlong is defying orders and leading his troops in a head-on fight against the Sakamoto Regiment.

Armed with modern battlefield tactics, knowledge of weapons, and an iron will, Lin Jun starts at the bottom. His precise marksmanship and ability to anticipate how a battle will unfold help him stand out during the breakout at Cangyun Ridge, and Li Yunlong promotes him ahead of schedule. He must adapt to the harsh conditions of fighting with millet and rifles, while cleverly applying modern military knowledge to upgrade weapons and equipment and revolutionize tactics. He goes on to distinguish himself in classic battles at Pingxing Pass, Huangtuling, and Ping'an County, among others.

He and Li Yunlong are both mentor and friend to each other. Lin Jun must learn the older generation of revolutionaries’ spirit of drawing their swords, while also helping the Independent Regiment move beyond rough-and-ready methods toward disciplined, precise warfare. He and Zhao Gang share a deep mutual respect, and through his actions he embodies the ideal of building a powerful military that can win battles and maintain an excellent style. He and Chu Yunfei recognize one another as worthy rivals, cooperating and clashing on the anti-Japanese battlefield before facing each other in the Liberation War. He must also contend with Yamamoto Kazuki’s special forces, Sakamoto Shintetsu’s elite regiment, conflicts of opinion within his own ranks, and relentless encirclement by the enemy.

From transmigrator to the core commander of an elite Eighth Route Army unit, Lin Jun forges the soul of an army with iron resolve and defeats powerful foes with ingenuity. Amid the flames of war in the Taihang Mountains, he writes a tale of drawing swords that is more stirring, more hard-edged, and more devoted to family and country than the original, letting the spirit of drawing swords shine even brighter with the support of modern military thinking
