“Is marrying me really such a hardship?”
“That isn't what I mean, but could you try to understand? Your brother-in-law became your husband, someone I've always thought of as a brother.”
“I understand. That's why I've never forced you to do anything.”
“Knowing you did all those things with my sister makes me sick. Not you two, myself. I always hear a voice in my head saying, ‘Your sister is dead. How can you still live with yourself?’”
“Then let's move.”
“No, that won't help. You don't understand.”
“I do. We won't get divorced. You can date someone else. I won't interfere.”
I started making all kinds of childish excuses.
“I don't like tall men. You're too tall.”
“He's crying. You just don't like me. What would it take for you to love me?”
