A Ten-Year Promise by the Unnamed Lake

Who was right and who was wrong? In the end, it was all just a laugh. Ten years drifted by like clouds and smoke, until the dream was over. Rub your eyes: which of those boys was ever as gentle as mist?

In their senior year of high school, he was Jiang Yihang, a legend at Lanchuan High; she was Chu Mumu, one of countless ordinary girls. A chance encounter in the library and a series of notebooks filled with unspoken feelings brought together two people from seemingly parallel worlds. They made a promise: by Weiming Lake, come what may.

But a disappointing college entrance exam, misunderstandings, and ten years apart left that promise sleeping in the depths of time. Chu Mumu moved far away, trying to freeze the past amid ice and snow. Jiang Yihang stayed behind, waiting year after year by Weiming Lake.

Ten years later, a chance work assignment brought them together again at the place where they had first made their promise. From a yellowed notebook slipped the confession that was ten years late: “I love you forever.” It turned out they had never forgotten, they'd only missed their moment.

Ten years changed who they were, but not the flutter of their first feelings. Now, standing by Weiming Lake as snow falls once more, will they find the courage to give this long-held crush a happy ending?
