Li Buying looked at the System panel floating before him, then at the gleaming broken sword in his hand, supposedly an “ancient divine weapon.”
[Item: Incomplete Sword of Immortal-Slaying (Counterfeit)]
[Estimated value: 3 low-grade spirit stones (scrap metal price)]
[Potential risk: The sword houses the remnant soul of an ancient demon who lived ten thousand years ago. Awakening it will consume 99% of the Host’s blood essence. Chance of revival: 0.01%. Chance of possession: 99.99%.]
[Investment advice: Discard immediately in a septic tank, or give it to an enemy.]
Li Buying sighed, then looked up at his haughty fiancée, who had her nose in the air, and the hot-blooded good-for-nothing young man behind her, whose face practically shouted, “Don’t look down on a poor young man!”
“This sword is a treasured heirloom of the Li family.” Li Buying wore an expression of deep reluctance, his acting flawless. “Since you’re breaking off the engagement, I’ll give you this sword as compensation for the damage to your reputation.”
His fiancée looked down on it, but a glint flashed in the good-for-nothing young man’s eyes. (He had an old master living in a ring, too.) Overjoyed, he thought, “The master was right. This is definitely a peerless divine weapon! The young master of the Li family really is a blind fool!”
Li Buying watched as the young man happily accepted the sword. A line of red text appeared on the panel before him:
[Transaction successful.]
[Profit gained: Escaped the risk of possession; transferred 50 million points of karmic debt.]
[Current mood: Great.]
“Cultivating immortality?” Li Buying lifted his teacup and blew away the foam, sneering inwardly. “Only fools cultivate immortality. Smart people keep the books.”
