Five years after we broke up, my ex-boyfriend’s painting sold for a fortune, and he publicly called me the lost love of his life.

I fired back with a bid of three million, just to show him he was way out of my league.

Shen Weifan’s painting fetched a record price, and a reporter asked him where he got his inspiration.

Facing the cameras, he said with blazing eyes, “Gu Yan, I’ve never forgotten you.”

The crowd erupted. The cameras immediately swung toward me in the audience: his cold-hearted ex, now the auction house’s chief auctioneer.

I adjusted my gold-rimmed glasses and raised my bidding paddle with a graceful smile.

“Three million. I’ll take the painting.”

“Mr. Shen, now I’m your buyer.”

That night, he blocked the doorway to my home, his voice hoarse. “Gu Yan, what exactly are you trying to say?”

I swayed the painting in my hand and chuckled. “I mean you and I need to discuss something… the buyout price.”
