Lin Wei, a top geneticist, is caught in a space-time turbulence during a laboratory accident and plummets into a savage world inhabited by beastfolk. Its residents come in all shapes and forms: fierce rhino beastfolk with red hair and horns, elegant fox beastfolk with silver hair and icy eyes, gentle and kind deer beastfolk, and mysterious, dangerous snake beastfolk... Survival of the fittest is the law of the land, and this outsider, with no beastly traits and no strength to even wring a chicken’s neck, becomes the tribe’s most unusual member the moment she arrives.
Faced with an unknown primeval forest and beastfolk tribes whose strength far surpasses her own, Lin Wei refuses to back down. Drawing on the modern knowledge in her mind, she begins by improving tools and experimenting with cultivation, gradually proving her worth. She uses her medical knowledge to treat the wounded, applies scientific thinking to organize the tribe, and even tries to unravel the mysteries of energy in the beastfolk world.
Along the way, she crosses paths with beastfolk of very different personalities: Yin, who seems cold but is actually thoughtful; Lei, rough and forthright, yet fiercely protective of his own; Mu, a gentle and friendly healer; and Ye, whose depths are impossible to fathom... They are drawn to her intelligence, resilience, and distinctive nature. As Lin Wei spends time with them, she gradually lets down her guard and begins to explore the possibility of putting down roots in this land.
When threats from outsiders quietly draw near and the tribe’s survival is in danger, Lin Wei is no longer merely an “outsider.” With knowledge and courage, she fights side by side with the beastfolk. She must not only kindle the spark of civilization in this savage land, but also find a home and a love of her own amid these bonds that cross species. This is an adventure about survival, growth, and connection, as well as a tale of a modern soul shining in another world
The setting of Lin Wei, a top biogeneticist, is really touching. Different from the traditional time travel golden finger, The orc setting is even more of a highlight. Highly recommended for those who like fantasy time travel and counterattack growth. This is definitely a masterpiece that you need to stay up late to read 😄
