I Lay Bare People’s Hearts in Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio

After transmigrating into the world of Liaozhai, Shen Zhiwei turns her scalpel from corpses to the hearts of humans and demons. Against cunning monsters, she is a psychological profiler who gets straight to the point. Around Pei Zhan, the cold-faced commander, she is a “troublemaker” who can easily set his heart racing. She thinks this is just an exciting tale of surviving in a strange world’s workplace, until her golden finger, the Heart Mirror, lets her glimpse the massacre in Pei Zhan’s memories, a tragedy in which he was manipulated.

A hidden thread known as the “Soul-Devouring Curse” links one bizarre case after another into a web. The mastermind is powerful and influential, treating all living beings as pawns. Shen Zhiwei lays down her scalpel and resolves to fight for the world that has accepted her. But when she comes face-to-face with the final boss, he smiles and asks, “You can see through people’s hearts, but can you see through the will of Heaven?” A psychological battle with the world itself as its board is about to begin.
