Synopsis

Five thousand years of Chinese history stretch into the distance. Tell me, who rules this vast land?

Princes and ministers, commoners and nobles, peddlers and laborers, ordinary folk in the streets… Every one of them took part in history.

How will later generations judge their merits and failings?

Can even the lowliest lives be changed by a glimpse of fate?

In each particular time and place, can ordinary people too find fortune smiling upon them?

Ordinary people should be able to feel the warmth of history, instead of history always being about an emperor's fury leaving thousands dead and rivers of blood in its wake!

Xu Wangshu, a modern history teacher, tries to show people of the past how their lives will unfold. How will she do it?

[History ebbs and flows, and historical records may be true or false. I write with care, and you can read as you please, just for fun. Where the story differs from the history books, please don't dwell on it.]
