Lin Xu is a hidden master of the metaphysical arts, able to divine the future and deliver utterly accurate predictions, but completely clueless about social graces. Forced to raise money to rebuild his Taoist temple, he heads down the mountain and sets up a fortune-telling stall beneath an overpass. One remark, “Your brow is dark,” gets him into trouble with Shen Muchen, the business world’s very own King of Hell.
Shen Muchen, head of the Shen Group, has an exceptionally noble destiny and is surrounded by purple energy. But his intensely yang fate also leaves him plagued by yin entities year-round. He means to teach the loose-lipped little charlatan a lesson, only to discover that whenever he’s near Lin Xu, he feels more at peace than ever before.
And so, Shen’s CEO gains a little sidekick. Lin Xu has to fix the company’s feng shui, accompany him when ghosts appear in the middle of the night, and even sit by his bed so he can sleep when he has insomnia.
Shen Muchen discovers that this little charlatan is a true master, and genuinely adorable in his cluelessness. Give him a black card, and all he wants to buy is candied hawthorn. Give him a mansion, and he complains that it’s too big and that the Taoist temple is cozier. Worst of all, he seems to have no idea what “love” means.
So Shen has to take matters into his own hands and patiently guide him. “Being close to me helps you cultivate faster. It’s a win-win.” “Holding hands lets me transfer my purple energy to you. It’s a necessary step in cultivation.” “Kissing? Um... that’s a more advanced ritual for exchanging spiritual energy.”
When a crisis engulfs the metaphysical world and factions vie to seize Lin Xu’s naturally gifted spiritual bones, Shen Muchen shields him and says gently, “Don’t be afraid. My purple energy will always be your power bank.”
Reader’s guide: Hilarious, sweet doting romance, one-on-one, devoted couple, happy ending. A cute, oblivious master bottom × a gentle, scheming, guiding top.
It would have been better if the writing was more terrifying 😂
This is the first time I have read a book that is not scary.
