The funeral home Wangsheng Zhai, run by Shen Yuan, is short on business, so he supplements his income by writing ad copy for the adult shop next door.
While supernatural organizations around the world fight tooth and nail over a newly emerged secret realm in the East Sea, Shen Yuan is merely handed a family job to “clear out an illegal structure.” He walks into the realm carrying a suitcase full of spirit money and, under the stunned gazes of powerful figures from every faction, stuffs the ancient demon soul at its core into a body bag.
Su Wanqing, an ace of the Dragon Group, is ordered to investigate this dangerous man. All she sees, though, is him putting makeup on a tycoon who died an unnatural death so the corpse can identify its killer, and suppressing a “fallen holy relic” that the church couldn’t purify with a stack of yellow talismans.
At last, she can’t help asking, “Who are you, exactly?”
Shen Yuan raises the Book of the Departed in his hand, his tone as calm as ever:
“Funeral director. The kind who offers aftercare.”
“My services cover a rather broad range, from sending off mortals to… holding funerals for old gods.”
Then one day, an Outer God tries to descend, and its shadow falls over the world. Shen Yuan quietly opens the ancestral contract, finds the deity’s name, and picks up the phone:
“Hello, this is Wangsheng Zhai. Can we begin the all-inclusive ‘A God’s Final Journey’ service you booked on schedule?”
