A Second Look at the Mortal World

In her previous life, Empress Gu Yunshu was falsely accused and deposed. Before she died, she was hung from the city gate tower. In her darkest hour, someone offered her brocade to cover herself and a clean cloth to wipe away the blood, granting her a final measure of dignity. Carrying that unresolved longing, she was reborn and reclaimed her place. Step by step, she settles old scores and takes control of her own fate. She searches the world over for the person who showed her such kindness, but finds no trace of them. During a crisis, he instinctively wraps his cloak around her and gently wipes the blood from her temple, his movements practiced and tender. Gu Yunshu suddenly realizes that the person she has searched for everywhere is the very man who has guarded her day after day, always at her side. In their constant closeness, he has hidden a lifetime of deep affection.
