Minning Town: The Wolf of the Northwest

In 1990s Xijihaigu, Ningxia, yellow sand filled the sky and the land was barren and desolate. People struggled just to survive, but Ma Debao, a stubborn young man with a wild streak, found his own way out of desperation.

From a little hooligan who hopped freight trains to a hard-bitten laborer in illegal coal mines, Ma Debao fell and picked himself up again and again. He was no born hero, but each hardship forged his resilience. While the villagers were still worrying about how to get by, he was the first to step forward and try growing button mushrooms, leading them out of poverty.
